Liverpool Road in Walmer has closed due to subsidence.
The road has shut near the Archery Square junction.
Subsidence is the motion of the surface to shift downwards which has caused damage to the road resulting in a pot hole.
A spokesman from Kent County Council said: "They won't know what's causing it until it is investigated. It's scheduled for investigating and fixing on Tuesday."
KCC contractors hope to fill the pot hole by the end of the day on Tuesday.
Liverpool Road at Archery Square will remain closed until the issue is fixed.
