A chanceless century from Robbie Goatham (pictured) and a fine knock from Vishaul Singh were not enough to earn Sandwich Town a win over bottom side Ashford in Shepherd Neame Kent League Division 1.
Craig Snell (52) and youngster Goatham (104) put on 96 for the second wicket before Goatham and Singh (83) added 139 for the third wicket.
The home side eventually closed on 271-4 from 50 overs before making a fine start with the ball, reducing the visitors to 25-3.
However Ashford turned in a gritty performance and managed to bat out their overs, reaching 208-9 to secure a losing draw. Jack Bradley took 4-61 and Snell 2-39.
