A former cop, who is serving a whole life sentence for raping and murdering Sarah Everard, has now been charged with indecent exposure.
Wayne Couzens' former employer, The Met Police, today revealed they are bringing more charges against him.
These are for a string of alleged sexual offences carried out in Swanley, just weeks before Ms Everard, 33, was killed.
Married father-of-two Couzens, 49, has been charged with four incidents of indecent exposure. The first relates to an incident between January 22 and February 1 2021, the second between January 30 and February 6 2021, the third on February 14 2021 and the fourth on February 27 2021.
Couzens, from Deal, will be formally charged on a date yet to be fixed, the Met said.
Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “Following a referral of evidence by the Metropolitan Police, the CPS has authorised four charges of indecent exposure against Wayne Couzens.
“The four alleged offences took place between January and February 2021.
“He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 13.
“The function of the CPS is not to decide whether a person is guilty of a criminal offence, but to make fair, independent and objective assessments about whether it is appropriate to present charges to a court to consider.”
Couzens is already serving time after he pleaded guilty to the murder of Ms Everard.
He snatched her from the streets of London after staging a false arrest on March 3 last year, and drove her to Dover in a hire car, before moving her to his own vehicle and driving to the outskirts of the town where he raped and strangled her.
Couzens burnt Ms Everard’s remains in woodland in Ashford.
Couzens was arrested at his home in Deal on March 9, and was sentenced at the Old Bailey last September.
Vigils were held for Ms Everard following her death, with people calling for more to be done to improve women’s safety on the streets.
