School shows the way when it comes to Fair Trade
16:29, 09 October 2013
Dover Grammar School for Girls has been awarded Fair Trade Schools Status.
It is the culmination of a campaign to raise awareness of the Fair Trade among the staff and pupils and to meet the criteria needed to receive the award.
Students have run a wide range of events including a highly successful Bake Off with lemon meringue pies, cheesecakes and some incredible baked goods all made with Fair Trade products.
The staffroom has also been converted to Fair Trade tea, coffee and sugar.
The Fair Trade organisation works to give farmers in developing countries a fair price for their produce, meaning that they can afford to educate their children and invest in their communities.
Being awarded Fair Trade status marks the school’s commitment to this ethos.
