Deal's hopes of a £3,500 windfall for winning a place in the next round of the FA Cup disappeared on the west Sussex coast on Tuesday.
After drawing 1-1 with Selsey in Saturday’s first qualifying round tie, Deal ended up well beaten in the replay but only after conceding two goals in the last eight minutes while playing with 10 men.
Substitute Gary Beeden received a straight red card for a high 80th-minute challenge and Selsey took advantage to score twice in the closing stages via Ross Woolf and Calum Britton.
Boss Derek Hares, pictured, said: "Selsey deserved to win over the two games, but it just seems that things aren’t going our way at the moment. When we were losing 1-0 I took a defender off and went three at the back, but then Gary was sent off, very harshly in my view."
Selsey struck four minutes before half-time when a deflection fell nicely for Woolf to strike home. They enjoyed the majority of the possession in the second half and Hares went for broke by bringing on Mo Takaloo and Darren Waring for Dave Bathgate and Michael Cassar.
He said: "We then started to threaten again and I thought we would get the goal, but then Gary was sent off."
