Young fundraiser Stephanie Rees heads for Paris on Saturday week in an bid to win an international title - and she wants Mercury readers to vote for her.

Stephanie, 10, of Ringwould Road, Kingsdown, hopes to take the junior crown in the final of the Face of the Globe beauty pageant. Stephanie who is sponsored by the Deal and Walmer Lions Club, will be judged on deportment, manners, interaction, compassion, and inner beauty play a large part in the competition.

Her grandmother, Julia Meager, said: “Part of the competition is an online vote for the title of People’s Choice.

“Stephanie is asking people to support her in this by going to the Face of the Globe page on Facebook or their website and to like the page and then go to the junior section and like Stephanie’s photo. This will count toward her votes.

“To vote on the website, people need to go to www.faceoftheglobe.com and like the page and then go to People’s Choice award and like Stephanie in the Juniors. Alternatively, people can go on Facebook, and follow the link to http://tinyurl.com/kb73yuz

Meanwhile, Stephanie has travelled to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance base in Marden, west Kent, and presented £780.40 she raised for the charity.

Mrs Meager said: “While she was there, she met one of the doctors and was about to meet the rest of the crew when an emergency call came in. Sadly the crew had to go to attend the emergency, but Stephanie had the privilege of watching the air ambulance and the crew prepare and take off on the call. It was a brilliant experience for her and something she will remember.

“She is knowledgeable of the service they provide and knows that they solely rely on donations and that they get no government funding. She has raised money through her bungee jump and a few other fundraising events and will continue to raise funds for them in the future.”

Stephanie has now raised a total of £5,552.00 for various charities.
