Car enthusiasts should watch out for some of the most exotic supercars on the planet heading for Dover docks this weekend as P&O Ferries gears up for the annual exodus of British motorsports enthusiasts to the Le Mans 24 hour race.
The legendary event draws tens of thousands of British supporters across the Channel each year, and tempts owners of many of the most spectacular cars ever built to take to the road.
This year marks the race’s 90th anniversary and P&O Ferries says the list of famous car marques it is carrying is incredible, even by its own Le Mans weekend standards.
Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Maseratis, Ferraris and Porsches abound as well as exotica from the likes of McLaren and Noble.
But the most expensive car P&O Ferries has booked to travel this weekend is a 257-mile-per-hour Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which carries a price tag - in basic trim – of £1.6 million.
