A boat understood to contain 13 suspected migrants was intercepted off the Walmer coast last night.
It's believed the vessel was met by lifeboats and a coastguard helicopter at about 4.30am this morning.
HM coastguard confirmed it assisted Border Force during an incident off the Kent coast.
A statement said: "HM Coastguard is committed to safeguarding life around the seas and coastal areas of this country.
"We are only concerned with preservation of life, rescuing those in trouble and bringing them safely back to shore, where they will be handed over to the relevant partner emergency services or authorities."
None of those rescued were wearing lifejackets upon rescue.
At least 125 migrants have been found off the coast of Kent so far month.
