There's something Sus about those White Cliffs...

Mercury readers are being invited to send in their photos of the White Cliffs of Dover after it was revealed that the cliffs pictured on Dover Town Council’s website were not ours.
Local photographer Ray Newsam studied the picture on the website’s home page and realised that the cliffs pictured were, in fact, the Seven Sisters in Sussex.
Contacted by the Mercury, town clerk Mike Webb confirmed Mr Newsam’s suspicions.
“The web designers were asked to provide a photo of white cliffs, which they did,” he said. “Part of their remit was to keep costs to a minimum, therefore nothing with a copyright was used.
“This caused its own problems, since it was hard to find a copyright-free photo taken with a professional, high-definition camera. Other photos have since been sent in, but none of them reaches “the highest level of definition” which the council requires.
“We would like any of your readers to send us a photo of the White Cliffs to the necessary standard for consideration of being used on the website,” said Mr Webb.
Photos should be sent to the council at Maison Dieu House, Biggin Street, Dover CT16 1DW.
