More than 500 households recycled their Christmas tree helping to save lives at sea.
Walmer RNLI offered a chipping service, sponsored by Tom Ledger of Leaf Tree Services, for a third year running on Saturday.
The wet and windy weather didn't dampen the enthusiasm of volunteers who helped move the forest of spruces which has been deposited on the Green since the end of December.
The tree chippings will be used for biofuel, a source of renewable energy, some of which goes to help power Discovery Park in Sandwich.
Already around £2,000 in donations have been collected, in cash and via a Just Giving page, with more expected.
Organiser and Walmer helm Dan Sinclair said: "As ever, we would like to thank our friends in Walmer, Deal and surrounding area for their support and local businesses for agreeing to advertise the event."
