An outspoken councillor has been suspended from the Conservative party following a "racist" tweet.

Bob Frost, councillor for North Deal, sent out a remark saying that he "bought two of the staff" at the restaurant for Liverpool’s International Slavery Museum.

He said that Liverpool's abortion clinics were part of the city's crime prevention.

A Conservative party spokesman confirmed to KentOnline that he had been suspended, saying: "Cllr Bob Frost has been suspended and is being investigated centrally."

Labour opponent Charlotte Cornell branded the slavery comment as racist and has called for him to resign.

The two crossed swords on Twitter over the weekend while she was in Liverpool for the Labour Party Conference and she tweeted a picture of herself in the city.
