The family of a man killed in a crash on the A2 have paid tribute to the "kind, generous, football-mad man".

Keith Hall, 44, of Beauxfield, Whitfield died after the crash near Patrixbourne last Wednesday.

It is believed his MGB sports car had broken down at the side of the London-bound carriageway between Dover and Canterbury when a Scania tipper lorry hit it.

He was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the lorry was shocked but not injured.

Mr Hall's wife, Paula said: "Keith was a good husband to me and a special Dad to our two much-loved children that he adored.

"He will be greatly missed by us, his family and his friends.

"He touched the lives of so many people and will hopefully be remembered as a kind, generous, football mad man, who would do anything for you. "

In a separate tribute, Doug Heaps, his team manager in the British Legion Deal Sunday League team and friend of 10 years, described Mr Hall as a “genuinely lovely lad.”

Mr Heaps said: “He was there every week - never moaned - never groaned.

“Hearing of his death was a terrible shock. I thought the person who told me had got it wrong. I couldn’t believe it was Keith.”

Mr Hall’s nickname was “Gatt” because apparently he was a Mike Gatting lookalike.

The tributes come just days after a minute's silence was held for the Deal football team player at Sunday’s Premier Division Cup final between British Legion and Farriers Athletic at the Charles Ground.

Hundreds of pounds was raised for Mr Hall's family at the match and in a raffle.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the crash, at around 3.20pm.
