Tributes to Deal mum Donna Spicer after she was hit and killed by train at Broadstairs station

Family members have spoken of their devastation after a devoted mum was killed in a train tragedy at Broadstairs station.

Mother-of-three Donna Spicer, 32, was thought to have been returning home from a night out in the town when she was hit and killed by a train just before 2am yesterday.

Her mother, Beverley Douglas, of Freemens Way, said: “We are all so devastated.

“She was loving, caring – the perfect daughter. She would do anything for anyone.”

Miss Spicer lived at Cowdray Square and was a former pupil of South Deal Primary and Walmer School.

She worked as a cleaner at Homeleigh residential home in Sondes Road, Deal.

Her mother said her life was “about going to work and looking after her boys”.

Ms Douglas added: “She had gone out with a friend and the next thing the police came and told us what had happened.

“We thought she was just going out in Deal.”

A statement released on behalf of Miss Spicer's family said: "Donna was the life and soul of any party, always so happy and full of life, she was strong willed with a massive heart and would do anything for anyone if she could.

"She touched the hearts of so many and will be sadly missed by all.

"Thank you to all of our family and friends who have supported, and are continuing to support, us."

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Broadstairs rail station on Tuesday, August 11, to reports that a person had been struck by a train.

“The call came into police at 2am.

“Officers from BTP, colleagues from Kent Police and paramedics from South East Ambulance service attended.

“A woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s family has been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

“The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
