Richard Wallis has won the PGA South Virgin Atlantic Order of Merit title for a record third successive year.
The Walmer & Kingsdown professional rounded off another successful PGA South season in style by beating James Ablett (Lee-on-the-Solent) 4&3 in the final to win his first PGA Keith MacDonald Match Play at The Berkshire GC.
He took the winner’s cheque for £1,400 and also booked his place in the Titleist PGA Play-Offs at the Antalya GC in Turkey from December 10-13.
Wallis (pictured) was happy that he had matched his results last year with three more Order of Merit titles this season, adding: "I really wanted to win the Match Play title, partly because I haven’t been much good at matchplay until this year and partly because it was my last chance to equal my record of three major wins last year.
"In the match play rounds, I was making a lot more birdies and avoiding the errors."
Wallis is now preparing for his bid to win his PGA European Tour card when he takes part in the second round of the Qualifying School in Spain in November.
