A suspected Second World War bomb was found at Sandwich Bay on Sunday morning.
Anstey Spraggan, a writer and teacher from Deal, was out walking with her husband Colin Cross when they found the object.
Ms Spraggan explained she did not want to get too close to the find in case it was an unexploded bomb.
She said: “We saw it and took a picture, then showed the picture to the security guard who seemed to think it was a Second World War bomb as well. He said he would contact the Coastguard.”
The object was found at low tide at 11am. Minutes before the couple spotted the object, they saw a man about 50 yards ahead of them investigate the unknown find by kicking it.
Ms Spraggan said: “I couldn’t say it was a shell for sure. I’m not a bomb expert but I still wouldn’t have kicked it."
