Utility man Sam Cutler is expected to join Dover after featuring in their pre-season friendly against Colchester on Saturday.

Cutler was one of a number of trialists on show for Whites during the game against League 1 opposition which they lost 2-0.

The 20-year-old, who was previously with Charlton, Weymouth and Grays, joined Welling last season and played both right-back and central midfield.

He had agreed to stay at Park View Road this season but new Whites boss Martin Hayes (pictured) has offered him improved terms to move to Crabble.

Welling boss Jamie Day said: "I spoke to Sam on Thursday and he told me that he had agreed a deal with Dover.

"It was something that we couldn't compete with. I understand why he is leaving and I wish him all the best as he did well for us last season."
