Woman driver, 90, injured in latest crash involving foreign lorry at roundabout
14:36, 08 October 2013
An elderly woman has been injured in the latest crash involving a foreign lorry at the Whitfield roundabout on the A2 near Dover.
It comes less than a week after the Mercury highlighted the dangers of the drivers of foreign lorries not being able to see cars that are alongside them.
That warning followed a similar crash in which a Walmer woman and her teenage son had to be cut free from their car after being hit by a foreign lorry at the same roundabout.
She was told that no action was being taken against the lorry driver. Police said there were "blind spots" where the truckers could not see cars near them.
Following the latest crash, this afternoon, fire crews, paramedics and police were called to the roundabout.
The 90-year-old woman driver had been helped out of her car by other motorists. She suffered cuts and a chest injury.
The roundabout was partially blocked with traffic heading for the White Cliffs Business Park, Buckland Estate or River and Temple Ewell via Whitfield Hill Dover being diverted along the A2 towards Jubilee Way.
