A woman was taken to hospital this morning after falling off her bike in Dover Road, Walmer.
Initially Kent Police first received a call at 11.31am to reports a car had been in collision with a cyclist but further inquiries established that the woman had fallen off her bike herself.
She suffered a head injury and shoulder and back pain.
An off-duty firefighter was first at the scene and helped the woman, believed to be in her 40s, before ambulance crews arrived.
The cyclist was fully conscious and taken to QEQM hospital in Margate by SECAmb.
Rich Airey, spokesman for SECAmb said: "We would like to thank the off-duty firefighter who helped before we arrived."
