Terrified French school children were forced to take refuge in a Dover shop when they came under attack from a group of local yobs.
The youngsters - on a day trip to the town - were set upon by teenagers said to be in school uniform who threw cans at them and their teacher.
It is believed the teacher was hit on the head as the group walked through the town centre.
Kent Police are investigating the attack, which happened at just after 4.30pm on Monday.
The French group went into a shop for safety until the gang left the area. They then returned to their coach and left Dover.
Police said both groups had moved on when officers arrived and no one reported any offences.
Officers are now examining CCTV footage of the incident to identify the teenagers involved.
