Deal Town manager Derek Hares has added to his attacking options with the signing of Matty Robinson.

The winger arrives on a dual registration deal from Ramsgate, where he has made 10 appearances so far this season.

Robinson, 19, won’t be available to play in tonight’s (Wednesday) FA Vase match against Westside due to being cup tied.

Hares said: “He’s only a young player, he’s a left-footed winger and he’s an out-and-out winger which is something we’ve been lacking lately.

“We’ve been playing people who aren’t wingers on the left so he’ll definitely be a useful addition to the squad.

“If somebody comes up who is available with your budget you do it.

“He’ll play for us every week but if Ramsgate get in a position where they’re short or need him they can call him back.”

Deal’s clash with Westside has already been postponed twice and faces the threat of being rescheduled a third time in light of the recent bad weather.

Nonetheless, Hares insists his players remain up for the opportunity to set up a home meeting with Oxhey Jets in the next round.

He said: “It’s not ideal going up there in midweek, people have to get time off work again to leave early.

“But it’s a big game and we want to progress, there’s also the big incentive of a home tie to play for.”

The Hoops suffered a 3-1 defeat to Corinthian in the Kent Senior Trophy on Saturday after seeing midfielder Nick Treadwell sent off after just 20 minutes.

His dismissal proved costly as Deal struggled to manufacture chances of their own against their Southern Counties East Premier Division rivals.

Hares added: “The sending-off killed the game really.

“It was really damage limitation after that, 70 minutes was too long to hang on against a good side like that.

“It was very unlikely we’d get through the second half without conceding, we didn’t actually play particularly well and the sending-off had a big impact.

“We could have done better with a couple of the goals but when you’re under so much pressure you know something is going to give.

“We didn’t play fantastic but they are a decent side and it was always going to be difficult.

“I think we could have had a penalty in the second half but we didn’t create a lot which was disappointing.

“We only had about three or four good chances overall.

“They’re a good side to be fair, one of the worst sides you want to be down to 10 men against.”

Besides Robinson, Deal are set to be without Macca Murray at Westside this evening.

Saturday will see Hares’ men travel to face Erith Town before hosting Lordswood on Tuesday night – providing tonight’s Vase game goes ahead.
