Chris Kinnear wants to rebuild Fortress Crabble after Dover repelled the advances of Kent rivals Ebbsfleet on Tuesday night.

Goals from Richard Orlu and Tom Murphy fired Whites to a 2-1 win in front of 1,562 noisy supporters on the south east coast.

And Kinnear, in his second spell as Dover boss, wants to get the most out of the fanbase which helped roar the club into the Conference 20 years ago.

He said: “There’s never been a question of our support. They’re a massive support. Our players do really appreciate it. Being young lads as well, it does drive them on.

“There was a time, a while back, when this was a fortress and people didn’t like coming here. As long as the supporters are on the side of the players, whatever’s happening, we’ve got a chance if it’s a fortress here. We’re going to do well away from home by virtue of the character of the lads.”

Dover are waiting for news on 19-year-old winger Lloyd Harrington, who was stretchered off with a knee injury after just 22 minutes.

Kinnear said: “He’s opened up his knee and, talking to the doctor, it might be a lateral. Hopefully it’s not cruciate. Hopefully it’s not as bad as we first thought."

Dover host newly-promoted Concord Rangers on Saturday before travelling to Whitehawk, another of the division’s newcomers, on Bank Holiday Monday. Both games kick off at 3pm.
