Dover Athletic assistant manager Jake Leberl believes new-look squad are starting to show promise

Jake Leberl believes Dover’s 2-1 friendly victory at Carshalton on Tuesday is further proof that they are heading in the right direction.
The win – Dover’s fourth in a row – followed Saturday’s impressive 4-0 success over Billericay at Crabble and assistant manager Leberl believes Whites’ new-look side are beginning to show genuine promise ahead of the start of the Skrill Conference South season on August 17.
Leberl said: “I know Chris (Kinnear) was talking to some of the trialists after Tuesday night’s game but there’s already enough quality here for me to feel we are going to be all right.
“Four wins in a row has helped the players’ confidence and they are beginning to buy into what we want them to do.
"It takes time because Chris and myself do things slightly differently from other people but the lads who were here last season are helping us to educate the new boys about what we
expect.”
Two goals in the first 20 minutes from Ashley Carew and Nathan Elder earned Whites victory at Carshalton, who pulled a goal back late on.
Leberl added: “To be honest, we were a little bit flat on Tuesday night and the pitch was a bit slow which didn’t help. But we were pleased with Saturday’s performance. We looked strong all through and there were lots of positives.”
Whites travel to meet Folkestone Invicta on Saturday before completing their pre-season programme at Brackley the following weekend.
