James Rogers struck two superb second half goals to give Dover Athletic a 2-0 victory over Leamington in their FA Trophy second round tie at Crabble on Saturday.
The midfielder produced a stunning volley on 53 minutes and then, after Leamington had Josh Green sent-off for pulling down Nathan Elder 25 minutes from time, Rogers curled home the resulting free-kick via a post.
Dover had controlled the first half but were unable to turn their dominance into goals as their Skrill North visitors defended doggedly.
And the Brakes almost snatched a surprise lead just before half-time when Whites keeper Mitch Walker saved well from a Stefan Moore header.
However, Leamington’s Tony Breedon remained the busier of the two keepers until he was finally beaten by Rogers and Breedon also had no chance when the midfielder made it 2-0 after Green’s dismissal.
Leamington kept plugging away and earned several late corners but Dover finished comfortable winners as they secured their place in the last 16.
