Richard Wallis picked up a cheque for £10,000 after winning his first tournament on the 888poker.com PGA EuroPro Tour.
The 32-year-old Walmer & Kingsdown GC professional produced a superb final round to secure an emphatic seven-shot victory in the Kerry London Championship at Burhill GC, Walton-on-Thames.
Wallis, who lives in St Martin’s Road, Deal, began the final round as joint leader with Nick McCarthy (Moortown GC) and shot a seven-under-par 65 to finish on 15-under, 201 for the 54-hole tournament.
It earned him the £10,000 winner’s cheque, a new Motocaddy trolley and an invite to the Challenge Tour’s Scottish Hydro Challenge tournament later this month.
Wallis, winner of the PGA South Region Order of Merit for the past three years, said: “It feels fantastic to win my first event on the PGA EuroPro Tour.
“Nick and I had a good battle on the front nine and it was holing a couple of sneaky 30 footers on 12 and 13 that was the difference."
Wallis shot eight birdies in his final round but a bogey on the par-3 18th prevented him from equalling the course record of 64, set by Billy Fowles en route to winning last year’s Kerry London Championship.
