One of the county’s busiest roads was shut for more than seven hours by flooding.
The A2 was closed London-bound near Dover at about 5.25am today.
National Highways said the closure was in place between the A258 at Swingate and the A256 at Guston.
A National Highways statement released early this morning said: “Traffic is being diverted via local roads by emergency services at scene
“Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes.
“National Highways service providers are on scene and have implemented traffic management to close the carriageway.
“A gulley sucker has been requested and is en route to clear the floodwater from the carriageway.”
By 1pm, the road had been reopened.
Elsewhere, both Ensfield Road and Coppings Road in Leigh, near Tonbridge, are shut due to flooding.
It comes after a weather warning for heavy rain was issued by the Met Office yesterday.
The warning said: “Heavy rain or showers falling on saturated ground may cause some disruption, particularly to travel.”
Meanwhile, flood warnings for New Romney and Whitewater and Ruckinge Dykes, near Ashford, remain in force due to high water levels following a week of heavy rain.
