Motorists face lengthy diversions of up to 35 miles ahead of overnight closures on the A2.
National Highways will be carrying out works on the dual-carriageway between Canterbury and Dover this week.
As part of work to "repair and maintain" the A2, resurfacing will take place between Thanington and Whitfield.
The roads will be closed between 8pm and 6am from tonight to Friday this week.
Tonight and tomorrow, the A2 eastbound will be closed between Upper Harbledown and Bridge. On Wednesday and Thursday the A2 will be fully closed between Lydden Hill and Whitfield.
On Friday the A2 will be fully closed between the junction with Wick Lane and Lydden Hill.
Signed diversion routes will be put in place.
From the A299 Thanet Way, drivers will be diverted east along the A299 and A256 towards Whitfield.
While traffic heading from Dover towards London will follow the same route in reverse.
Motorists travelling to Dover from Canterbury will leave the A2 and follow the A28 and A253 towards the Monkton Roundabout of the A253/A299.
From there, traffic will take the third exit onto the A299 and then A256 towards Whitfield.
People heading for the port of Dover will be diverted to join the M20 and the A20.
However, the Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings as snow is set to hit parts of Kent this week, which could cause some delays.
National Highways plans to finish the work on both stretches of road this week.
