Ancient cave painting workshop takes place at education centre at Samphire Hoe

Budding artists can have a go at ancient cave painting in the new education shelter at Samphire Hoe tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am.

The education centre, which isn’t officially open, will host a variety of Saturday morning workshops that link art to the countryside throughout the winter.

Steve Walker, the ranger at Samphire Hoe said: “We shall try to put ourselves in the footsteps of our ancient ancestors to understand why they did art.

He added: “This is the first of a series of art in the shelter mornings.

“We love to get people out into the countryside enjoying the open air. We want members of the public to use our new education shelter at Samphire Hoe we have events planned all through the winter.”

Entry is free, with donations covering the cost of materials. Dress warmly and prepare to get your hands dirty.

The next workshop, called photo drawing is on Saturday, November 22 at 10am and another, named its my landscape at the same time on Saturday, December 6.
