Traffic is building and long queues are forming in Dover as well as Folkestone as people try to head away for the long weekend.

There are delays on both the A2 and A20, along with a wait to board ferries at the port.

It's getting increasingly busy heading towards the port of Dover, with the A20 Roundhill Tunnel now closed coastbound to prevent cars from queueing inside.

Passengers can expect a waiting time of up to one hour on P&O Ferries, DFDS Seaways and Irish Ferries between Dover and Calais, and between Dover and Dunkerque due to high demand.

Extra time is required getting through check-in and border control.

Passengers are being told they will be placed on the next available sailing.

An accident was also adding to the congestion earlier with the A20 coastbound at Capel-le-Ferne partially blocked with slow traffic near B2011, Court Wood Interchange.

There are also long delays on the A2 Jubilee Way, before A20, Eastern Docks roundabout - with cars almost queuing to White Cliffs Business Park.

A KentOnline reporter who is currently in Dover, says that the port traffic has not spilled into the town itself, with both York Street and Maison Dieu Road being completely clear.

In Folkestone, holidaymakers wanting to travel to France have a waiting time of up to 30 minutes for Passenger Eurotunnel services, due to high demand.

For Freight Eurotunnel service, there's a waiting time of up to one hour and 30 minutes.

Extra time may be required for getting through check-in and border control.

There's congestion due to lorries being checked at J7 A2, Brenley Corner, to prevent then heading to the Port of Dover and trying to bypass the holding areas on the M20 where Operation Brock is in place.

As a result, there is now a 10 mile queue on the M2 from Brenley Corner at J7 back to J5 near Sittingbourne.
