A man has been charged with making a false bomb threat after a suspicious package was left near a town centre.
Police attended Snargate Street in Dover just after 11am yesterday following a spurious bomb-threat call to 999.
A cordon was put in place while the street was searched as a precaution and officers were still at the scene at about 4pm - almost five hours after the call came through.
But after the call was deemed to be a hoax, an arrest was made the same day.
Dean Sarjeant, 52, of London Road, Dover was taken into custody and is due before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.
