A Chinese takeaway that was shut down after a “widespread rat infestation” has reopened as inspectors found no further risks.
Hygiene officers visited Red House takeaway in Dover last month and slapped a damning hygiene emergency prohibition notice on the business’ front ordering it to close.
But now the business in Park Place has been allowed to reopen as authorised food safety officers from Dover District Council (DDC) were satisfied that sufficient work had been taken to ensure the health risk no longer existed.
The premises was allowed to reopen from March 28 but only did so last week.
Following the reinspection, the Chinese has been given a new star rating which is yet to be published by the Food Standards Agency.
The notice placed on the venue’s door previously said: “There is evidence of a widespread rat infection, food not being protected against contamination and the premises being in a filthy condition.”
Red House has been contacted for comment.
DDC says “no further information can be given at this time” due an ongoing investigation.
