Stunning images of a grand estate once owned by a prime minister have surfaced – as it goes on the market for £10.5 million.
Waldershare Park near Dover – home of Lord Fredrick North in the 18th century – spans across 127 acres of fields and woodlands.
Built in The Georgian era, the six-bedroom farmhouse – complete with swimming pool – is the jewel in the estate’s crown.
The historic park also boast a brick stable yard which has been converted into homes alongside a former indoor riding school.
To the south of the main house is a collection of “characterful” cottages, and to the west is a former village hall which estate agents Strutt and Parker claim has potential as a home or a holiday let.
The grounds boast a brick stable yard which has been converted into homes alongside a former indoor riding school, currently used as storage.
In total, the next owner will obtain a 17-strong portfolio of Grade II listed residential properties.
For 250 years the grounds were held by the Earls of Guilford - a title held by members of the North family.
During his tenure as Prime Minister, Lord North led Britain in its catastrophic defeat in the American War of Independence.
While serving in parliamant, North was Chancellor of the Exchequer and Secretary of State.
Estate agents said: “Now offered for sale by the 10th Earl Guilford, the property offers a diverse rural estate with good let property income in an accessible but rural east Kent location.
“At the very heart of the estate is the vendors’ former family home, comprising a Grade II listed Georgian farmhouse surrounded by mature parkland and gardens.
“It comes with a Grade II listed walled garden, two ancillary cottages, and further outbuildings including former village hall, engine shed and Grade II listed granary.”
The section offered for sale is part of the even bigger 430-acre Waldersham Park Estate which includes a Grade I-listed mansion.
