Crushed worker fighting for life

A MAN is still fighting for his life in Kent and Canterbury Hospital with crush injuries after an industrial air conditioning unit toppled onto him at the Whitfield Recycling Depot near Dover.
The man, believed to be in his fifties and employed at the depot, was with a workmate helping move the unit when the accident occurred just after 1.10pm on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses told police that the unit appeared to topple from the bucket of heavy lifting gear.
The depot was immediately closed. Health and Safety officials are visting the scene today.
