Knights in shining armour delight crowds at Dover Castle's first jousting event
00:01, 17 August 2017
Knights in shining armour gave visitors to Dover Castle an adrenaline-fuelled taste of the past.
It was the first jousting event organised at the English Heritage property.
Diana Holford, English Heritage South East events manager, said: “Dover Castle’s Grand Medieval Joust this weekend has been a fantastic success."
“It was extremely well attended, and visitors have been full of praise for a super day out.”
Spectators were treated to an exciting display with a very high standard of jousting. After a particularly high-scoring tournament, the Knight of the East was named the overall winner on Sunday afternoon, receiving the Golden Lance.
Ms Holford added: “This was Dover Castle’s first joust, and I can safely say, after the success of this weekend, that we will bring it back again next year.
“In the meantime, we’re looking forward to our next event on the August bank holiday weekend, Castle Live, where you can experience everything from Romans to King Henry VIII, Second World War soldiers and loads in between.”
English Heritage has attractions at Deal and Sandwich too. Click here for more.
