Firefighters were called to a false report of a derelict building alight in Dover, last night.
Crews from both Dover and Folkestone attended the scene in Marine Parade, near the Premier Inn, just after 5.30pm.
Watch manager Andy Batchelor said: “But it turned out just to be rubbish alight in the rear garden.”
Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze within 20 minutes.
Watch manager Batchelor added: “There’s no information to suggest it was deliberate ignition.”
Crews later attended an incident in London Road, Dover, which turned out to be a controlled bonfire.
