A Disney cruise ship moored up in Kent for more than two months has left.

The 11-deck Disney Magic luxury liner set off from Dover yesterday morning and headed west past Folkestone and Dungeness.

It had been stationed at Dover's western docks since arriving in the county on May 19 but is now en-route to Brest, in northern France.

The ship, which has a huge Goofy hanging from the stern, became a temporary attraction and drew in visitors wanting to get up close to the 2,700-passenger vessel.

But its lengthy stay in Kent has now come to an end, meaning those who didn't get round to seeing the huge cruise liner have, quite literally, missed the boat.

Disney Magic, which was the first ship to be launched by the global entertainment firm in the 1990s, is currently in the Channel on its way to Brittany.

It has passed Guernsey and Jersey and is now line with Plymouth as it heads towards Brest, where it is due tomorrow morning.

The luxury liner, which has almost 1,000 crew members, is registered to the port of Nassau in the Bahamas.

Its cruises have been put on hold until at least October due to coronavirus.

While it has been no stranger to Dover in recent years, due to trips to Norway and Iceland launching from the port, another stay totalling about 10 weeks is highly unlikely.
