Dover Castle: my favourite place
13:39, 03 June 2008
Broadcaster and journalist Peter Snow chose Dover Castle to star in a new episode of The History Channel programme My Favourite Place.
Mr Snow examined key parts of the castle’s history dating right back to the seige of 1216 when Britain was under threat from French invasion.
The programme also focused on Operation Dynamo in 1940 where the castle was the base of the biggest ever British rescue operation during the Second World War.
The episode was the fourth in a six-part series where celebrity presenters explore their chosen site.
Dover Castle is open every day of the week including bank holidays and admission is free for English Heritage members.
