Dover TAP is in place this evening.
Kent County Council's highways department says the motoring restriction has been put in due to heavy lorry volumes.
The Dover Traffic Access Protocol is on the coastbound A20 at Aycliffe.
Dover TAP is a temporary traffic management system which queues port-bound lorries on the nearside to prevent congestion in the town.
Traffic lights hold back lorries until space at the Port of Dover becomes available.
It also means a 40mph speed restriction for all vehicles approaching the port and town.
