Dover's RNLI was given a cheque for more than £3,000 by the Channel Swimming and Piloting Federation on Sunday.
It was presented on board the station’s Severn Class lifeboat called the City of London II.
The association escorts swimmers across the channel and money was at its annual dinner.
The cheque was accepted by Dover’s Second Coxswain James Clapham.
He said that without donations such as these from organisations and members of the local community the Royal National Lifeboat Institution would cease to exist.
