Fire engines called to help at Whitfield crash

A woman had to be cut from a car by firefighters after a two vehicle collision at Whitfield.

Crews from Dover and Folkestone fire brigade attended after emergency services were called at 7.02am.

A spokesman from Kent Fire and Rescue Service said another lady in the other car was helped out by a passer-by.

"We used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof allowing us and ambulance staff to remove her."

Crews from Dover and Folkestone attended for about two hours.

Kearsney Avenue was closed while the operation was taking place.

A Kent police spokesman said: "Police were called at 7.02am to reports of a collision involving two cars on Whitfield Hill, Whitfield.

"Officers and Secamb were at the scene the female driver of one of the vehicles has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle."

The second woman was also taken to hospital.
