Fake house blaze call wastes firefighters' time
10:39, 19 October 2008
A warning has been given to people who make fake 999 calls after a malicious message was sent from a Dover public phone box.
The caller said there was a fire at a home in Chamberlain Road, Dover, but when firefighters arrived just before 4am Sunday there was no sign of any blaze.
Watch manager Tony Northcott said: "These calls waste resources and tie us up unnecessarily.
"We would like to remind the public that they are also highly illegal."
