Ferry services to Dover were suspended or delayed due to strike action at the Port of Calais.
P&O Ferries and DFDS posted warnings to passengers on social media.
The P&O Ferries Travel Updates X account said shortly before 3.30pm today: “Our services are currently suspended due to strike action affecting our ability to sail.
“We are working hard with port authorities to resolve this issue and get you on your way as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and patience.”
One passenger expressed their frustration over the issue on social media.
Posting a picture on X, the user @BrandHalpin said: “Stuck at Calais trying to get back home. This little group of people with their flags and sun tent are apparently striking and we’ve been told we’re unable to board.”
They asked P&O Ferries: “Any idea when this might be resolved/come to an end?”
Just after 5.30pm, P&O confirmed the strike action had ended.
“Our departures may sail with a delay due to a knock-on effect from the earlier disruption,” it added.
