Film crews have returned to a Kent town to shoot for a TV series.

Staff set up in and around Dover over the weekend connected to an ongoing 'period drama' – but details are scarce.

White trailers have appeared on the former Dover Leisure Centre site along the A20 – and are thought to once again be using Dover Castle.

The Grade-I listed landmark, which is no stranger to both the big and the small screen, was visited by the same crews in August and September.

However, no more details have been released about the project, with a spokeswoman for its publicist saying nothing would be revealed until next year.

English Heritage, which runs the castle, has not released a statement confirming that the castle was used for filming over the weekend.

While it is not known what series is currently being filmed, there are two possible programmes slated for 2023 releases that could potentially fit the bill.

This includes a mini-series based around Eleanor of Aquitaine, based on a book by Alison Weir.

An alternative would be an Apple TV series on Dick Turpin, with Noel Fielding starring as the legendary British highwayman.

English Heritage has been contacted for comment.
