09:00, 06 August 2017
Emergency services were called out to a home in Dover in the early hours of this morning after an attempt to burn down the property.
Fuel was poured through a letterbox and then ignited at a house in Kitchener Road.
Luckily, nobody was injured and there was only "minimal" damage caused to the property.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called out to a property on Kitchener Road at 4.30am.
"Fuel had been poured through a letterbox and then ignited. The front door was alight and the fire had spread to the hallway carpet.
"It only caused minimal damage, mainly to the front door and there was no reported injuries.
"The cause of the fire is thought to have been deliberate and is believed to have been caused by a flammable liquid being ignited.
"An investigation is underway."
Police say they are treating the fire as suspicious.
They want anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to call 01843 222289 quoting ZY/36246/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
