A former water tower needs a new H2owner.

The structure, dating from about 1906, is going under the hammer at the landmark 200th sale by property auctioneers Clive Emson next month.

The cylindrical building, in Singledge Lane, Whitfield, could be converted into a home with planning permission.

The freehold guide price is £80,000-plus.

The property is on 0.08 hectares (0.21 acres) and would offer panoramic views of the surrounding countrysde.

Kevin Gilbert, auctioneer, said: “This tower is certainly one of the more unusual lots we’ve listed.

“However, because it is unique there is likely to be interest from builders, developers and would-be owner-occupiers.”

Also at this next sale are two buildings at East Cliff, Dover.

They have been used as a bed and breakfast business but planning permission has been granted to turn them into nine flats.

The freehold guide price is £680,000 to £720,000.

Another of the 150 lots under the hammer is a four-storey period property at Castle Street, Dover.

The freehold guide price is £180,000 to £185,000.

Also at the auction is a three-bedroomed mid-terrace house at Oswald Road, Dover, with a freehold guide price of £110,000-plus.

Clive Emson, covering southern England from Essex to Cornwall, works with 850 estate agents and also stages an online auction to compliment live ones.

Last year the firm, Britain’s largest independent regional land and property auctioneer, catalogued 1,168 lots and achieved sales of £160 million at a success rate of 80%.

The company also paid a record £750,000 to joint auctioneers during 2017, with the money going straight back into the industry through the link with estate agents needing auction facilities.

The 200th sales is from 11am on Tuesday, March 20 at the Clive Emson Conference Centre at the Kent County Showground in Detling.
