Fruit and veg deal
00:00, 23 October 2008
People can get competitively-priced bags of seasonal fruit and vegetable to help with their recommended five portions a day from tomorrow.
Kent County Council and the Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT have teamed up to launch a year-long pilot scheme.
The produce will be supplied by Kent-based Bank Farm, which was chosen by Produced in Kent. Volunteers will bag-up the produce, which will be on sale every Wednesday from 1 to 4pm at the Age Concern Riverside Centre in Maison Dieu Gardens, Dover.
A bag of fruit and vegetables will cost £3. Customers will also get a free cotton eco bag and a loyalty card. After 12 purchases they will get a bag of fruit and veg free.
A series of recipe cards will also be available to inspire a range of meals that can be prepared using the seasonal produce.
