The village of River encouraged people to get involved in a scarecrow trail last weekend.
Maps could be bought for £2 at the Crabble Corn Mill, the River Methodist Church in Lewisham Road.
The maps gave clues about the scarecrows around the village, but it was up to people to then seek them out.
Resident, Dee Horobin said: “People have to find them themselves. It is a community thing, it brings everyone together.
This is the first time the event has been arranged to coincide with the fair at Applecroft nursing home, in Sanctuary Close.
