Man arrested at Port of Dover after 24 Eritrean nationals found in back of lorry at Whitfield

A man has been arrested after 24 Eritrean nationals were found in a refrigerated lorry trailer at Whitfield today.
Kent Police was called at 11.51am and arrested a man on suspicion of facilitation offences.
An ambulance, two responder cars and three hazardous response vehicles were sent to check over the immigrants, but no one was taken to hospital.
In a statement the Port of Dover said: “A vehicle has been detained at Whitfield containing 24 Eritrean nationals.
"Port of Dover Police assisted and the matter has now been passed over to Kent Police and Border Force.”
