Heavy police presence around Eythorne and Elvington near Dover

A large number of police vehicles have descended on a rural village.

A police helicopter hovered over Eythorne and Elvington, near Dover, for more than 30 minutes this morning.

Five police cars, a police van and an ambulance were in the area at around 11am, according to residents.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended Elvington, near Dover at around 9.25am today after a car suspected of being linked to drug dealing was seen in the area.

"The car was abandoned in the village and a search for the driver was undertaken, assisted by a police helicopter."

"The vehicle has been seized and attempts to locate the driver are ongoing."
