A private school is expanding its offering to pupils by launching a day boarding provision.

The Duke of York’s Royal Military School in Dover is introducing the initiative for the first time in its history, for students who wish to return home in the evenings.

Before this, the school, which was established in 1803, offered either full or weekly boarding.

At just more than £4,000 per term, and not vat, day boarders will arrive for morning registration and leave at 4.15pm, depending on school commitments, such as clubs, sports fixtures, or training sessions.

However, students can extend their day if they choose until 8pm by staying for dinner, evening activities, and supervised homework sessions.

The day boarding programme offers full access to the school’s co-curricular activities, including more than 60 weekly clubs, music ensembles, drama productions, and a sports programme delivered by specialist coaches.

A spokesperson from the school said: “The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is proud to offer highly competitive fees for full, weekly, and day boarding and also offer a range of academic and sports scholarships to support talented students in reaching their full potential.”
