More than £1,000 of donations have flooded in to help brave Bryoni Millar get the vital medical treatment needed to treat the last of a tumour.
Last week the Dover Mercury highlighted the plight of the 18-year-old of Buckland Avenue, who has spent a year battling bone cancer at the back of her skull. Surgeons had to remove a large tumour which surrounded her brain stem.
A tiny piece was left as it was too close to her spinal chord, and this is why Bryoni needed to go to the US to have special treatment to eradicate it safely.
Her mother Tara Bingham arranged an event at the Cricketers in Crabble Avenue, called the Benefit Music Afternoon which encouraged more than 250 Dovorians to attend and donate.
About £2,000 was needed to allow Bryoni’s grandmother to accompany her to the States for the duration of the treatment, which is about nine weeks.
The treatment is being funded by the NHS.
The day included entertainment from local musicians, a bouncy castle, food, drink and fun was had by all.
Pick up a copy of this week's Mercury on Thursday for the chance to see a double page spread of the event.
